Privacy Policy

Policy Intent

Strange Loop cares about the privacy of attendees. Your private data is used ONLY to run the Strange Loop conference (for example: collecting payment, printing badges, inviting you to applications for conference attendees, maintaining the mailing list).

We never share or sell your private data to sponsors or third party companies.

One exception to the above rule is if we are legally compelled to share your information. In the event that this happens, we will notify you, and share the least information we are compelled to.

What Information Do We Collect?

We collect private information in three scenarios:

1) Web site (thestrangeloop.com)- we collect basic web traffic information (IP address, page visits, etc).

2) Registration (tito.com) - our registration site (Tito) is a third party application that collects information to register attendees for the conference including name, email address, company, payment inforrmation, address information (if needed), dietary and assistive needs.

3) Mailing list (mailchimp.com) - our mailing list contains name, company, and email address of either current or former attendees of the conference, or people that completed the mailing list registration form on the conference web site.

How Do We Use Your Personal Information?

1) Web site - we use aggregate web traffic information to monitor overall performance and usage of our web site, understand traffic patterns, and identify problems.

2) Registration - registration information is maintained in the Tito application and used only to manage the conference. For example, it is used to print name badges, and (in anonymized aggregate form) to order t-shirts and conference catering. We also use email addresses to communicate with attendees up to and after the conference.

3) Mailing list - we send emails to mailing list attendees.

How Is The Information Shared?

1) Web site - this information is never shared or sold.

2) Registration - this information is never sold. Registration information is only shared (in minimal form) with vendors to provide services during the conference (for example, a list of names to print name badges, or counts of vegetarian meals to caterers). Speakers and sponsors are not provided with attendee information.

Conference badges are printed with a QR code that encodes an attendee's name and email address. Attendees can choose to share this information with attendees or sponsors by providing their badge to be scanned using a QR code scanner. If you wish to hide the QR code on your badge, you can use materials providing at the registration desk or request a new badge without one.

3) Mailing list - this information is never shared or sold.

Consent

1) By using the web site, you consent to share your anonymous usage information with Strange Loop.

2) By registering for the conference, you consent to share your contact and payment information as described above.

3) By registering for the conference or the mailing list, you consent to receive emails from Strange Loop.

Information Removal

To request that your registration or mailing list information be removed, please contact info@thestrangeloop.com.
