Opportunity Grants

Strange Loop's opportunity grant program has provided support to members of underrepresented groups who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend Strange Loop for financial reasons. From 2015-2022, the grant program has provided tickets and travel for ~650 people to attend Strange Loop who would not have otherwise been able to attend, underlining our commitment to equal access and diversity.

Applicants should be a member of an underrepresented group in tech - women, LGBTQ+, African-American, Latinx, Native American, people with disabilities, or other underrepresented groups not listed - and be unable to attend without some financial assistance. We have a strong preference for U.S.-based applicants to stretch our grant funds as far as possible.

Grant recipients will receive a free registration ticket and may optionally request support for travel and hotel.

How to Sponsor

If you would like to support the opportunity grant program, we have two ways to do so:

Personal donation

You can provide a personal donation on the registration site by purchasing the Opportunity Grant Donation and specifying a donation amount. All amounts are helpful and 100% of the donation (less payment processing fees) will be put to good use supporting travel for our grantees! At the end of purchase, you will be asked whether you wish your donation to be public or anonymous.

Company donation

If you would like to make a big impact on the program with company support, please contact info@thestrangeloop.com for details on becoming a grant sponsor.
