Machine learning to interpret sign language

Instead of just teaching Deaf people how to get along with the rest of the world and understand them, why don't we make an effort to understand them and their language via technology?! In this talk we will learn how to use machine learning to interpret sign language.

There are a large number of Deaf people across the globe and communicating with them is difficult as not everyone can understand sign language. In India the official number of certified sign language interpreters stood at merely 250 in the year 2017. This talk will be about using object detection for a good cause and addressing the problem of sign language recognition. I will also invite contributors and encourage people to contribute in their own languages to make the system more robust and accessible for people worldwide.
