Modularity in JDK7
The JDK is big. Really really big. The growth in functionality - and size - shows no signs of slowing down in JDK7. Can we have our cake and eat it too? This talk will describe how a modular JDK is used by developers and delivered as native OS packages; the technical issues involved in modularizing the JDK; and the relationship of a modular JDK to 'hot topics' like JSR 294 and the Jigsaw module system.
Alex Buckley is Computational Theologist at Sun Microsystems, responsible for the Java Language Specification and the Java VM Specification. He is currently spec lead for JSRs on modularity and annotations planned for JDK7. He has a PhD in Computer Science from Imperial College London.
