Have a Strange Passion? Submit a talk!
I've posted a few times about the Strange Passion talks but so far there have only been a few submitted talks.
I've decided to push the deadline for talk submission out to September 30th and the voting deadline out to October 2nd to leave more time for these to come in.
In case you missed the whole premise behind these talks, there are two times reserved during the conference (Thursday night during the happy hour and Friday during the day) when conference attendees will have the opportunity to submit short (15 minute) talks on *non-technical* topics of interest.
If you'd be interested in doing a talk about your own particular topic in history, art, music, philosophy, astronomy, science, or whatever, you can (and should) submit a talk. The audience favorite at each session will win your very own Klein bottle, a true geek item.
Currently, there are four talks that have been submitted:
- Building Houses in a Mexican Slum
- How Objects Which Don't Exist Fooled Astronomers
- How I do tech interviews
- A Developer's Guide to Hacking Tools for Fun and Profit
That last one sounds a bit like a technical talk to me but I've decided to let it stand and people can vote on it with the others.
Speaking of voting, even if you don't want to submit a talk, your duty as a conference attendee is to vote on the list of talks so the top ones are picked for the show (probably the top 6). So get voting! (You'll need to log in with your assigned user account which has these special privileges.)
